Adopt Gracie a Black & White or Tuxedo Domestic Shorthair / Mixed (short coat)

Location:
Crossville, TN
Description:

At 21 years of age, Gracie ended up at the shelter in early 2024 after the death of her family member. Other relatives lived at a distance and were not able to take her in. HART pulled Gracie into foster care and had her blood work done to make sure that she is in good condition and to find out if she had any health issues that needed to be addressed. Luckily, she is in excellent health. At 21 years of age, that is equivalent to 100 human years and she is still going strong! Some specifics about Gracie: (1) she is front declawed; (2) she appears to be deaf; (3) she is missing a number of teeth; (4) her food choices include Hartz Delectables (bisque, broths, and stews) Friskies lil shakes, and Temptations treats (with the soft centers only.) The only regular canned cat food that she can eat is chicken or turkey with extra gravy and it needs to be very tiny bites. She does not have the ability to lick or lap up the shredded meat and fish that comes in some of the Delectable stews. Gracie loves scrambled eggs with butter and milk and cheese! She also loves a treat of one Colby Jack cheese stick, which is cut up into small bites. Sometimes she will eat the entire stick of diced cheese and other times leave it half eaten. The girl likes to eat at least four times a day because she takes in smaller portions with the food that she can eat than other cats who have all of their teeth. Actually she is in great condition for a 21 year old lady cat. She is a white tuxedo with thicker fur under her neck and chest and on her underbelly. She does not climb up onto sofas but can climb up onto a low chair and likes to sleep on a towel where she can enjoy the sunshine during the day and peace and quiet at night. Gracie also enjoys looking out the window at the deer and other wildlife that wander into her view. So, what is the catch? There are just two: (1) Gracie needs to be the only animal in the house. She hates dogs. She also does not care for other cats. (2) If Gracie does not like something that you are doing, she will take a swat at you with one of her declawed front paws. Or she may even try to bite your hand if you are persistent. However, she doesn’t have many front teeth, and the claws on her front paws were removed, and she does not cause any damage. Life will be easiest for her and her remaining time on earth if she is able to go to a home with no other animals for that reason. You can pick her up and move her about the house , as needed. She does not want to sit on your lap or stay on a sofa. She would prefer to be on the floor for pets and scratching and to have you follow her to the kitchen whenever she thinks that she should be fed or if she wants to try to talk you into some fresh air on your deck or patio. Keep in mind, she is declawed and should not be left outside unattended for allowed to wander out of sight. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed microchipped and flea treated before adoption. if you would like to fill out the adoption application please visit www.hart rescue.weebly.com filling out the application does not commit you to adoption it simply makes the approval process quicker.
