Fonzie, Domestic Shorthair For Adoption In Chicago, Illinois

Description:

Fonzie is a very gentle cat and very shy. This sweet 3-legged boy has a lovely personality and is very loving once he has warmed up to you. He will never leave any food in the bowl and always says yes to a snack or meal. He enjoys sitting with his foster parent and will now sleep on the bed with them. He is 100% food-motivated and will never leave a bowl empty. When Chicago Cat Rescue learned about Fonzie, all we knew was he had an injured leg. Femur bone, an inch and a half long, was protruding through this poor cat’s skin. We made immediate plans to receive Fonzie and incredibly, we were able to schedule surgery within 36 hours. Fonzie lost his leg, but his suffering was alleviated, and the life of a gentle, affectionate cat was saved. Fonzie has healed beautifully, and he’s ready to rumble on three perfectly functioning legs! This gentle guy is very sensitive to loud sounds so he needs a quiet and calm home. He is listed as special needs, but that is only because he had to have one of his legs removed. He is also FIV+. This kitty will purr a lot and show you plenty of affection if you give him his forever home. FIV+ cats may have compromised immune systems due to the FIV virus. However, FIV+ cats can and do live long, healthy lives. Proactive health care and early detection of health issues are important with FIV+ cats, although the same is true for all cats. As the virus is spread primarily through blood via bites, both FIV+ and FIV- cats can share homes with one another, as they have, via adoption from shelters and rescues, for many years. If you would like to meet and possibly adopt this amazing feline, please email XXXX@chicagocatrescue.org or call 773/203-XXXX. No texts, please. CCR adopts to forever homes in Chicago or the very near suburbs that are within 10 miles of our Chicago foster families. We love our cats and we pledge support for the rest of their lives, which is why our location limits are in place. We appreciate your understanding. If you are outside of these limits, please check petfinder.com, which allows searching by zip code, for cats closer to your home. At Chicago Cat Rescue, we are dedicated to both the physical and emotional well-being of the cats and kittens in our care. For this reason, unless expressly stated, we do not place cats or kittens in homes where they will be the only cat. Generally, cats love the company of other cats, and can become quite lonely when living alone. Kittens will only be placed in pairs, or to join another kitten or young cat in your home. Chicago Cat Rescue is an entirely foster-based organization. Our ability to help more cats in need is dependent on our availability of foster homes. If you think you could provide a loving foster situation for a cat in need, or would like to learn more about our foster program, please email us, XXXX@chicagocatrescue.org. Thank you!Adoption processWhy adopt from a foster based organization? Every animal is unique, and because our cats and kittens are cared for in private homes, we feel we truly get to know what makes each of our cats so special. We rely on our foster families to educate us about the personalities and temperaments of the cats in their care. Is their foster cat outgoing or chill? High energy or more sedentary? In need of a feline companion, or happier to be the queen of the castle? We learn so much about our cats, and we are able to share all that information with you! Armed with this knowledge, we feel we are uniquely able to help you find your furry soul mates! Sadly, there is a limited amount of information that can be learned about animals living in cages. When you visit our cats and kittens in their loving foster homes, you'll be privy to a wealth of information, that can only be acquired through the experience of living with a furry companion. Our foster parents are truly the "experts" on our cats and kittens! Our adoption process: In order to find the best homes for the cats and kittens in our care, and the best matches for you and your family, CCR offers a thorough adoption process. We are dedicated to the ideal of a "forever home" for each of our cats, and we endeavor to make that ideal a reality. "Same day adoptions" don't give anyone time to prepare for a 15-20 year commitment! Our process is designed to help you find felines who are well suited to your home and life style, and to arm you with the information you will need to both welcome your new pets into your home, and to care for them., By carefully laying this groundwork, we help ensure that our cats do, indeed, find their "forever homes". Step 1. Call or email us, to learn more about the CCR cats and kittens who have peaked your curiosity! Of course, we'll have questions for you too! Our conversations enable us to get to know you, and to help us understand the qualities and traits that are important to you, as you seek your new furry family members. CCR's minimum adoption age is 25, although we occasionally make exceptions for individuals in their earlier twenties, who are working full time. Step 2. We'll put you in touch with our foster parents, so that you can make arrangements directly with them, to meet their foster kitties. All of CCR's foster homes are located in Chicago..Step 3. We'll want to hear about your visits with our cats, and once you've found the cat(s) of your dreams, we'll ask you to complete an adoption application and contract. A representative from Chicago Cat Rescue will process your application (usually within 2 business days). This period of time is also your opportunity to prepare your home for your new pets! After your application is approved, we'll make a plan with you, to deliver your cat(s) to your home. Last minute questions are always welcome! When you adopt from Chicago Cat Rescue, you not only gain the unconditional love of your new furry family members. You also gain the perpetual support of a group of caring individuals, who are committed to you and your new companions' ongoing happiness. Our adoption fee is $150 per cat or kitten, to help defray our costs. All of our kitties have been combo-tested for FeLV/FIV, spayed or neutered, vaccinated as needed, micro-chipped and dewormed, as well as provided any other medical care that may have been required.Shelter locationCHICAGO CAT RESCUE NEEDS FOSTER HOMES! As an entirely foster based organization, our ability to help more cats in need is dependent on our availability of foster homes. We can use your help! The more foster homes we have, the more homeless cats and kittens we can save. If you would like to consider opening your home to cats and kittens in need, please contact us!
