Cocoa LocationText Rebecca 321-431-XXXX Woody came to us back in November after he arrived at the shelter with a very bad wound to his leg. The shelter had treated his leg for several weeks, but it wasn't getting better. The next step was amputation. We rescued him and got him to our vet who said that Woody would need more time to recover before we could make any decisions about his leg. In January, it was determined that Woody would not need an amputation. However, a few days before his neuter surgery, Woody had blood in his urine. The vet found fluid around his bladder (which is no longer present on recent ultrasounds). He was given medicine and improved for his neuter surgery. When we got home from his neuter, the stress caused him to have blood in his urine again. He was treated and is now back to himself. Woody has been diagnosed with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC). It is an inflammatory condition that affects the bladder. The cause is unknown. When Woody has a flareup, we will know by seeing him struggle to urinate, and frequently going in and out of the box. He will have blood in his urine as well. He does not pee inappropriately anywhere. We have Woody on a wet food only diet and supplements. Since implementing these supplements, Woody has been doing really well. The supplements are sprinkled directly on his food, so they are really easy to give to him! Woody is the MOST PRECIOUS cat, and deserves to have a family that will get him lots of attention. The rescue would like to put him into a foster to adopt home so that the foster has time to decide on a final adoption based on what Woody's health looks like as he continues to grow and heal. *His family needs to be close, or willing to drive to Cocoa, 32927 for some continued care with Woody's bladder at our vet that he is already established with. The rescue will pay for these visits. (if someone lives farther away, and wants to use their own vet for visits, we can discuss this).* The rescue will provide wet food for Woody. He should not be eating dry food. We will also provide the supplements for his food. He loves attention, and will walk right underneath of your feet to make sure you know he's there. He loves to be held, hugged, kissed, pet, smooched...you name it. If it's attention, he's all in. He will sit in your lap for pets, rub against your face for kisses, rub against your legs for attention...he's the sweetest cat. He is very playful still and loves to play with his pompom toy and springs. He likes to chase the bell balls back and forth like a soccer player. He loves cardboard scratchers. He likes to watch out the window and see the birds. He also likes watching YouTube bird videos. LIKES/DISLIKES/OTHER ANIMALS/CHILDREN:Woody has gotten along with every cat he has come in contact with. He is very playful and loves to be around the other cats in general. I have never seen him be aggressive with any human or other cat, even when playing. I have never heard him hiss or growl. He hasn't been around kids or dogs, but would do fine around either as long as they are cat friendly. ***Please remember; our cats have a low thirst drive and NEED the moisture in the wet food. Since wet food is 75% moisture and dry food only 10%, that is huge for our felines. Cats need wet food daily to avoid a lot of dehydration related medical problems long term like urinary tract issues which can lead to litter box avoidance and kidney disease or obesity issues linked to diabetes.. VETTING: Woody is neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped, and combo tested FIV/FELV negative. We take any kitty back if it isn’t working out.
