HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at XXXX@arl-iowa.org or Carol at XXXX@arl-iowa.org .---- Loved to cuddle with her previous family under a blanket behind their legs - Previous family said she loves toys in the color pink - Her foster mom shares that she is a real sweetheart once she settles in, she loves to crawl onto her lap and will follow her around like a little shadow!- Can be pretty shy at first and is looking for someone who will give her extra time to settle in if she needs that - Young, noisy or busy children can be stressful for her and she's really not interested in dealing with them at this point in her life, so she's looking for a calm, quiet home with mature family members- Loved to play with the dogs in her previous home - Has lived with other cats but prefers calmer ones who will respect her personal space; did have a close cat friend who passed away recently in her previous home, and will do best with a slow introduction to any resident cats- Prefers multiple uncovered litterboxes in quiet, accessible areas (more info at ARL)This cat can be fearful and may need extra time to adjust to a new home. We've seen good progress here at the ARL, but don't be surprised if it takes several weeks for this cat to become comfortable in a new place. This cat may hide and just observe at first - maybe for quite a while - and that is perfectly normal. Young children are too much for this cat right now, so we are highly recommending a quiet, mature home. We are happy to provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat extra time, patience and TLC, please consider adopting! It will be so rewarding to watch them gain confidence and start enjoying all the good things in life!
