Meet Domino - a loving tuxedo boy with an estimated date of birth of 1/30/2023. When found on the streets of Chicago by a PPAH supporter, Domino was skin and bones. Like most cats who are rescued from starvation, Domino overcompensated and ate much more than his body needed. A recent visit to the vet confirmed that Domino's food intake needs to be controlled. A custom diet was formulated and is being successfully monitored. Domino is such a happy boy. He is talkative and friendly and loves to be with his people. He is either on one of his fosters' laps or laying next to them. He gets along well with the other cats in the home and loves playing with them. But he also plays with his own toys by himself. He's a perfect little boy and is ready for his furrever home. Domino is FIV+, and these cats often get overlooked. What Should You Know About FIV? Humans and dogs cannot catch FIV. It is exclusively a feline virus that can only be spread to other cats through blood. This typically only occurs during very rough fights, which is why it is most common in cats who have lived on the streets. An FIV+ cat is very unlikely to spread the virus to a non FIV cat while play-fighting. FIV is not a "sickness.” There are no medications or special treatment of any kind required. The only noticeable effect of FIV is a weakened immune system, so cats who are FIV+ should not go outside.
